The collection documents Acker E. Young's military service in World War II. It contains a scrapbook from Young's time in training as well as abroad in the European Theater of War. It also contains ephemera and memorabilia such as medals, awards, certificates, postcards, and commemorative stamps.

This collection consists of two letters written by Adam Loy of the 89th Indiana Infantry to his wife Sarah Loy. The first letter is written from Memphis, Tennessee and is dated May 21, 1863. The second letter is dated May 23. Loy writes of his experiences in the infantry.

A handwritten letter and envelope from Addie Pike of Salem, Massachusetts, to her brother Edwin R. Pike of Nashville, Tennessee, dated October 26, 1864. In the letter Addie discusses their father and his health, their sister, and observing rallies for Abraham Lincoln and "little Mac" George B. McClellan.

This collection consists of a letter dated July 30, 1864 from Rear Admiral David Farragut to H. R. Billings that officially granted Billings's request to be detached from the USS Vincennes.

This collection consists of a Civil War letter and document written to B.D. Parkinson from Adna Anderson. The letter appointed Parkinson as Engineer of Repairs, United States Military Railroads, Military Division of the Mississippi. The document, titled Special Order No. 9., officially recognizes the appointment. Anderson assisted the North during the Civil War as chief superintendent and engineer of all the military railroads.

This collection consists of four Advocate and Family Guardian dating from 1864. They include articles, poetry, and stories with a focus on Christian teachings as well as a series describing East Tennessee and how it was being affected by the Civil War.

This collection consists of reports, notes, rosters, drafts, binders, clippings, and publications relating to Aelred Flash Gray's career with the University of Tennessee Planning Department and two of his publications, Norris, Tennessee: A History of America's First Self-Contained Greenbelt Town and Regional Planning: The TVA Experience.

The “Aerie Echoes” Yearbook collection consists of the 1946-1947 yearbook for Lanier School in Maryville, Tennessee. It includes photographs of the students, administration, activities, clubs/organizations, and more.
